An interesting read.

We fail on most of the points outlined, and i can only hope we move towards a more "usable" platfrom.

i think aloud.

Can use of a hosting service, such as blogspot.com here be considered as a mistake. the author claims that it puts you in the category of "naive" but are we not in a revolution here, and is not the XML feeds, aggregation services such as typepad etc more important than a www.iOwnTheInternet.com

there is no doubting the fact that it will get you a more professional outlook, maybe even higher ranking and seriousness on part of reader, but are we looking for such a projection.

What i want to draw an eye towards is that the article misses out on blogSphere design. I pull the word out of the article itself, but things like syndication, trackback, digests etc that stem from the connected XML dependent blogspace are not touched upon. Should we not now consider these as an essential part of designing a blog.

well the article also lists some good refrences in the end.

nice to see.. some of the founders of this blog still drop by this neglected space.

anyways, abt getting a own domain, u say; are we looking for such projection? Well to put things in perspective, if we are putting some knowledgable stuff out there and are serious about our musings, then maybe yes we shld shift to our personal domain. it makes the readers realize that if the authors are willing to shell out money to make their content available.. their content has to be credible, which is a victory of sorts!

but i do agree with ya that things like syndication, trackback, etc are very important but guess thatz also possible as all websites today provide feeds. if we doman + database and some blogging platform like wordpress at our disposal, we can have all features given by Blogger.
